Ancient Irish Monastic Sundial at Tywyn

        Information plaque inside St.Cadfan's Church

This sundial is one of only two Irish-style sundials in Wales (the other being at Clynnog Fawr). It was discovered and rescued by Tom Lloyd in 1986. Tom found the stone placed on top of some rubble from the now demolished late medieval Ynysmaengwyn Mansion and noticed the milestone markings. Tom went on to report his find to the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales, which realised, from his photograph, that it was a re-used early Christian Sundial. It has now been set up on display inside St. Cadfan's Church.
