| There is a modern stainless steel equatorial sundial in the garden of the Slieve Russell Hotel. The 250 mm diameter base plate is engraved with an eight point compass rose. The shadow cast by the rod gnomon onto the hour band indicates local solar time. The Latin motto 'Hora Quasi Umbra' translates as 'Time is but a shadow'.
