The armillary dial in front of Gregans Hotel is comprised of circular bronze rings, one ring representing the equator carries the hour scale and another the local meridian. An arrow through the poles, pointing at the Pole Star, represents the Earth's axis and its shadow indicates the time.

The Georgian house hotel gets it's name from a nearby 15th century towerhouse, now in ruins.
