A modern (2002) 'geological heritage' sundial/picnic table by Turlough Cowman on Stradbally village green. 1800mm in diameter with a 1000mm high gnomon that has a carving of a fossil on both sides. At intervals around the 750mm high pedestal inscriptions describe some of the unique geological features found in this area which is part of an officially recognised UNESCO European Geopark.
Stradbally, near the coast 30k South West of Waterford, has won numerous awards in the National Tidy Towns Competition and was a recipient of a Gold Medal in the prestigious international Entente Florale 2002.
