Wexford Sundial

Over the door on the tower south wall of the 1818 St. Peter's C.of I. Church, Tagoat, is a 600mm wide by 450mm high vertical direct south facing slate sundial dated 1839. It is engraved to show the time from 6a.m. to 6p.m. in Roman numerals with IV for four. The fractional time ring has hour, half hour, quarter hour and 5 minute divisions. There is no noon gap to compensate for the thickness of the thin solid brass gnomon and the noon hourline is missing at this point .

Tagoat is situated on the N11 road, 5km west of Rosslare Harbour.
